Man, am I disappointed. One of the worst cards I've seen in a while. And Anderson Silva? What the hell, man?

Anderson Silva v. Thales Leites

The worst fight I can remember seeing. I've probably seen worse. But I can't remember them. Picked the fighter, but way off on the method. Terrible fight.

Results: Silva. Unanimous Decision

My Prediction: Silva TKO, rd 2 (1-0)

Chuck Liddel v. Mauricio Rua

I went with my heart on this one and was very disappointed. Liddel still didn't check the leg kicks, and in the end shows his age in the form of much less speed. KO.

Result: Rua, TKO, rd 1

My Prediction: Liddel, TKO rd 2 (1-1)

Krzysztof Soszynski v. Brian Stann

One sided fight here. Soszynski shows his superior ground game in impressive fashion.

UFC 97 Predictions posted on 04/18/2009

Here we go. Live at 8PM on Pay-Per-View. You know I'll be there, will you? These are my predictions. I went 4-0 with my choices at the last fight night, so let's see if I can keep it rolling.

Anderson Silva(23-4) v. Thales Leites(14-1)

I have alot of respect for Thales Leites, but he's got no chance against the Spider. Leites is a black belt in jiu-jitsu, but so is Silva, and then some. Silva has the best striking in the UFC, maybe in all of MMA. I don't see this one going for too long

Prediction: Silva. TKO, rd 2.

Chuck Liddel(21-6) v. Mauricio Rua(17-3)

There are people who say Chuck Liddel is past his prime, and there are those who say that Shogun(Rua) is one of the most vicious strikers in the game. I disagree with both of these groups of people. Liddel may have been caught up in the fame, he may have been caught up in his own hype. I don't know, but I believe those problems are behind him.  John Hackleman and Tony Robbins have Chucks mind back where it should be. Rua is hype and past glory. His last fight was against a dinosaur. You and I could've knocked out Mark Coleman's old ass. This should be an exciting fight though, I'll say that.

Fight Night April 1 posted on 04/01/2009

It's time ladies and gentlemen. April 1 at 8pm, Spike TV, Fight Night Live. I'm going to give you my picks for each fight. This should be a good card.

Condit (23-4) v. Kampmann (14-2)

People who haven't seen any WEC fights may be unfamiliar with Carlos Condit, their Welterweight champion. I've caught a couple of his fights and I liked what I saw. He's very good on his feet, his jiu-jitsu is solid, and he's got a really active guard. One thing that stood out was his cardio. Those boys in the WEC really know how to push the pace, and he was as good as any other. His competition hasn't been world class, so this will be his first real test.

Martin Kampmann is one of the best kickboxers in the world. Period. His striking game is world class, and will really test Condit. He has several wins by submission so he's got skills on the ground too. Kampmann might be a little to much for Condit his first time in the octagon.

You Can Believe in Jay Cutler posted on 03/19/2009

To those out there who have turned on Jay Cutler, I ask you to consider you're reasoning. He's too proud, he's not mature enough, he's like a spoiled kid. Jay Cutler is 25, going into his third real season leading the Broncos and his first two were pretty damn good considering he took over his rookie season. To judge him so harshly or characteristics that we all have within us is wrong. Think about the football side of it.

Last season I saw Jay Cutler make some throws that I would have thought impossible. I also saw him throw some balls into double and triple coverage and get picked off in crucial situations. But what stood out was the fact that he can make the throw. You know what I'm saying. Comparisons in this town are inevitable, so here's mine. Elway made you believe that when he had it in his hands, he could make the throw. Fact is Denver, sometimes, he didn't. But we worship him for the throws that he DID make. Jay Cutler has never had a team surrounding him near the ones Elway took to his Super Bowls. But he has made the throw. We in Denver that see the potential in Cutler aren't afraid if we're down 5 with only three minutes left in the game. If he get's the chance, he can make the throw.
